In the
WOODS.
He’s only 15… and already fighting a battle most adults would struggle to survive. Yesterday, Dustin underwent a leg amputation. In just one moment, his whole world changed.
I remember exactly the day my life changed. It wasn’t a sudden shock, it was more like a shadow that slowly appeared and then took over everything. It started with that bruise on my arm… I didn’t pay much attention at first, I thought I’d bumped myself playing.
This photo… it’s raw, honest, and a little scary, I know. This is what I look like now, on the outside, after so much struggle. A little swollen, with purple marks that tell stories of intense treatments, and this tiredness that seems to have become my companion. And this thumbs-up?
Many may look at this photo and see only the scars, the visible battle in each mark on my face, and the weariness in my eyes. But when I look at it, I see proof that, despite everything, I am still here, resisting.
I look at this photo and the first thing that comes to mind isn’t the pain, but the miracle of being alive. I am Cláudio, and that man there, lying among wires and tubes, is me. Or rather, it was the version of me that fought the most important battle of my life.
A story that tells me this story, at this moment when my papel comes to me as many times, it’s long and hard to eat. It doesn’t appear to me that something is ‘common’, and there is an image that you can see before it shows a picture of what you want to see.
